Ben Glass is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the convergence of technology, biology, and the post-human body, delving into the essence of humanity and living organisms in a world inherently intertwined with technology and embodied virtuality. He uses real-time performance, electronics, kinetics, AI, virtual systems, and biology to establish a synthesis between the natural world and the technological one, incorporating blown glass elements and growable biomaterials to examine alternatives to modern design. Transparency, research, and open-source sharing are at the heart of Ben's practice, urging viewers to confront pressing questions about the implications of rapid technological advancements and envision new possibilities for the future of humanity.  

Yousif Alzayed

Yousif is pursuing a Master’s of Art in technology at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. He is interested in patterns in nature that can be reproduced and mimicked through the help of light, sound and motion. Often displaying his work at an Installation scale, zooming in and enlarging the subtitles of nature that can often go unnoticed. His research spans across physics, chemistry and biology, and focuses on the integration of analog and digital electronics as an art material.

Yimei Zhu

Yimei is pursuing a Master of Art in technology at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She is an experience-oriented creator who focuses on Art, Disability and Posthuman Bodies. Her artworks discuss deficiencies and imperfections seen through an unconventional perspective and resist stereotypes that accompany disability. Simultaneously, she is exploring more possibilities for the human senses. Yimei uses various forms of media in practice, including images, sound, writing, software design, projection, interactive installation and bio-art, among others.

Ryan Garvey

Composer and Performer, Ryan Garvey, uses Improvisation, transcription, electronics, and rhythmic grids to create music that asks the listener to. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Composition at the University of Chicago. He is interested in the phenomenon of listening. He finds opportunities to surprise and confuse the listener, asking them to expect the unexpected. Their music has been described by listeners saying it has caused “my baby to kick in the womb” and “a fire that never dies frightened me”. His research takes form by way of extended techniques, exploration of color through the medium of electronics, and the phenomenology of perception.
